Costera is a blend of 90% Cannonau, 5% Carignano and 5% Bovale Sardo.
This full bodied and layered red is produced at the Costera estate in the countryside of Siurgus Donigala, ‘Sarais e Sisini’ area, 220 metres above sea level. Over 200 years ago the Spanish ruled over the island and planted the grenache grape varietal. The vine flourished, and in Sardegnan dialect it is known as cannonau. It is arguably the most important varietal for red wine production on the island.
Redolent with sweet black cherry, pepper and liquorice, the palate is warm and full bodied with plenty of ripe fruit and pleasant tannins.
Costera is an excellent food wine that is best enjoyed with roast beef with herbs, filet mignon, stews and sharp cheeses.
